Question Title DVD Review - Love in the time of Cholera

Best DVD Movie?

"Love in the time of Cholera"

Love in the time of Cholera is one of the best DVD movies that I have seen in a long while even though I found it to be a little slow in the beginning. Some people may say that it is a traditional “chick flick” but I found the characters to be intellectual and I was able to relate to them.

The storyline was a bit slow at the start but once the foundation of the story was laid, it was easy to follow and I found myself emotionally engaged. Benjamin Bratt portrayed his character with such ease, it did not seem like he was acting at all. The romantic element of a young man’s dedication to his true love is such a timeless story, and Javier Bardem does an excellent job to make the viewer’s heart melt.

Like many DVD movies, this was a story of love, dedication, and living in such a difficult time. It was set in the 19th century in a Columbian city and tells the story of a young simple man, Florentino who falls for Fermina, a shy young girl from a wealthy family. It was love at first site for Florentino but the father of Fermina wished her to be wed to someone for money rather than for love. She was taken away from the city for many years all while Florentino desperately tried to find her and he holds onto the wish of one day being together again.

Even after Florentino learns that Fermina has married a wealthy physician and started a family, he still pursued her with utmost dedication. Florentino took on work in a shipping business and was determined to make a name for himself and prove that he too could provide for Fermina. The buy dvd spans over sixty years of their lives and attests to the belief of true love.
